About Charlotte Munning Raku
My career as an artist started almost 20 years ago. In college, I majored in Biology and Art and went on to get a Masters degree in Education. After teaching Biology for years, it was time to follow my dream of being a full time artist. I started as a traditional potter and continued to take classes and arrived at the process of Raku. My signature glaze, which I developed, is unique and emphasizes the warm, rich colors of copper. With clean lines, textures and carvings, the form and color merge to complete a dynamic statement in clay.
